We're looking for a Technical Solutions Engineer with a mechanical background who has in depth knowledge of submerged arc furnaces, plants and ancillary products and can provide clients with technical solutions and offerings.  The ideal candidate will have faced diverse engineering challenges and developed proven methodologies for solving complex problems.

The candidate should be someone who engages and understands the client, offering credible technical solutions. The role is primarily responsible for preparing technical specifications, engineering designs, and finalizing the scope of supply for solution pricing.

Your role will be to:

• Support the General Manager: Aftersales in developing proposals, formulating sales strategies and securing new projects.
• Ensure that all technical solutions meet client requirements while contributing strategically to the advancement of new technologies.
• Champion a unified digital service platform encompassing the Illustrated Parts Catalogue, O&M manuals, e-learning modules, and AI-assisted support tools, ensuring consistent technical accuracy and improved customer engagement across the service lifecycle.
• Conduct external training programs for customers, promoting technical knowledge transfer, and driving operational excellence in equipment maintenance and performance.
• Conduct regular customer visits and site audits, enabling proactive identification of improvement opportunities, technical risk mitigation, and enhanced plant reliability through close collaboration with client maintenance teams
• Attend conferences or represent the company at local and international events, including direct client marketing activities such as sponsorships and customer engagements

You will perform the following activities

• Prepare technical offers based on clients’ specifications and requirements.
• Be technically involved/lead in proposals and studies
• Maintain and update a comprehensive repository of spare part technical specifications.
• Participate in/ Lead feasibility studies and other Engineering related studies
• Engage and collaborate with new and existing customers to develop and implement innovative solutions.
• Development of engineering concepts and designs of engineered products / components
• Provide input to conceptual furnace designs for new applications.
• Participate in the innovation drive within the Technology Department
• Provide specialist technical support to all customers in the Aftersales portfolio
• Perform periodic on-site customer audits
• Perform customer-specific training
• Develop and maintain key client contacts through local and international visiting of clients.
• Pro-actively market Tenova Pyromet products and services to existing and new clients.
• Pro-actively market copper products to existing and new clients.
• Assist with preparation of technical papers and attend technical conferences related to Tenova Pyromet portfolio.
• Develop and maintain ‘success story’ database.
• Prepare technical proposals in line with company procedures.
• Prepare time schedules for tenders/ proposals.
• Draft technical specifications required for tenders.
• Assist with costing for tenders/proposals.
• Roll out a unified digital service platform encompassing Catalogue Creator, O&M Manuals, e-learning modules and AI-assisted support tools. Once implemented, maintain and enhance the functionality thereof

Required Qualification, Knowledge & Experience

• Mechanical Engineering Degree (B. Eng or B. Tech)
• 8-10 years furnace design and knowledge essential
• Technical Mechanical engineering knowledge
• Mechanical design experience
• Working knowledge of AI tools
• Submerged arc furnace knowledge- electrode knowledge
• Submerged arc furnace knowledge - design software
• Technical acumen in developing value-driven proposals that align engineering solutions with customer requirements
• Understanding of digital transformation and its role in improving Aftersales performance through AI
• Project Lifecycle Management
