Technical Sales Intern

The Tenova Inc. internship program is designed to “test the waters” of working in the engineering and steelmaking industry. During your internship, you will work within a specific department on meaningful projects, gaining exposure to Tenova's culture, processes, and operations while developing a strong business mindset.
The program is a blend of hands-on experiences and opportunities. Throughout the program, you can expect to gain a better understanding of your future potential at Tenova through valuable project work.
All internships last approximately 12 weeks. Your start/end date can vary based on your academic schedule and business needs. Internships are paid and designed to be a step towards joining Tenova in an entry-level position upon graduation.
You will support the Technical Sales team in developing and maintaining Tenova's customer and prospect database, identifying potential business opportunities, and expanding the company's network within target industries and markets. This internship will provide hands-on exposure to customer research, lead generation, CRM management, and business development activities in a technical and international environment.
Key Responsibilities

Review and analyze the existing customer and prospect database to identify gaps, outdated information, and potential opportunities.

Research and identify potential customers within target industries, geographic markets, and market segments.

Support lead generation activities through prospecting, referrals, networking opportunities, and online research.

Identify relevant decision-makers, buyers, and key stakeholders within prospective customer organizations.

Collect, verify, and update customer and prospect contact information to maintain accurate and reliable records.

Request and document referrals from existing contacts and customers to support the expansion of the prospect database.

Enter, organize, and maintain accurate customer and prospect information within the CRM system.

Assist the Technical Sales team in researching prospective accounts and preparing relevant background information to support sales activities.

Track prospecting activities and help maintain organized records of leads, contacts, and follow-up opportunities.

Collaborate with Technical Sales and other internal teams to better understand Tenova's products, technologies, customers, and target markets.

Participate in departmental meetings and contribute ideas to improve prospecting, customer database management, and business development processes.
To become an intern with Tenova, there are a few key things you’ll need to have/had:

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Management, or a related field.

Strong interest in sales, business development, and customer relationship management.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Interest in learning and working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and other business development tools.

Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to identify and organize relevant business information.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to communicate professionally with internal teams, customers, and prospective customers.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

Quick learner with a proactive mindset and willingness to take initiative.

Curiosity and willingness to learn about technical products, industrial markets, and the steelmaking industry.
Job Type: Internship / Part-time, max 30 hrs
Salary: $20 per hour
